You may be shocked to learn that God has devoted an entire book of the Bible to fleshing out what romantic love is all about – The Song of Solomon. He is the inventor or romance, intimacy, dating and sex, so naturally God has a lot to say on the subjects. Surprised? You shouldn’t be. He cares about all of our lives, especially this area that has caused so much hurt and yet has such potential for joy. God doesn’t just fill us with the need and desire for love and then toss us into the fray like a hand grenade. He wants to guide us to having great romantic love in our lives. That’s true whether we are dating, engaged, married for a few months or married for years. God has words that breathe life and love into our relationships.
Love can be complicated, but we don’t have to make it harder than we have to. We can learn to love as God designed us to. God will be leading us on this journey together starting on Valentine’s Day. I’ve got the feeling he wants many others to experience this journey too.
